Honduras SHG Guara Verde
Guara Verde—or the great green macaw—the national bird of Honduras and a symbol of the program that brings us this fabulous variety/strain of coffee.
The Guara program focuses on tracing small producers and working with them on high-quality cultivation, harvesting and processing techniques. Implementation of the program pairs agronomists with farmers and addresses seven key areas: soil management; pest and disease control; tissue management; harvest and fermentation options; processing options; drying processes; and African bed protocols (the method of drying the coffee after extraction from the fruit).
This particular coffee comes from 252 producers across the western departments of El Paraiso, Santa Barbara, Lempira, Copan and Ocotepeque.
The coffee has a sweet and fruity profile, with a caramel aroma and a bright acidity.
